Work in Mauritius

The Occupation Permit (OP) is a combined work and residence permit that enables foreigners to live and be employed in Mauritius under three categories: Investor, Professional, and Self-Employed. PROFESSIONAL OCCUPATION PERMIT
Allowing non-citizens to work and reside in Mauritius for a period of up to 10 years, renewable, subject to meeting the salary criteria and holding a valid employment contract. The OP remains valid for up to 3 years and can be renewed if the individual earns a minimum monthly basic salary of MUR 30,000. Alternatively, a short-term OP is available for a period up to 9 months, renewable once for up to 3 months.
MAURITIUS DIASPORA SCHEME
Aimed at encouraging Mauritian citizens living abroad to return and participate in the economic development of the country. This scheme offers tax exemptions on income derived from within or outside Mauritius for a consecutive period of 10 years, as well as exemptions on customs duties for personal belongings and a car. Returnees also benefit from exemptions on registration dues for the purchase of a residential property.
Live in Mauritius
In the case of real estate investments, Mauritius provides diverse schemes enabling foreign nationals to purchase property on the island. The Property Development Scheme (PDS) allows the development and sale of high-end residential units to non-citizens. Acquiring a property under this scheme, for a minimum amount of USD 375,000 or its equivalent in any freely convertible foreign currency, grants a residence permit to the purchaser.
For individuals who wish to retire in Mauritius, the Residence Permit for Retirees offers the opportunity to live on the island for a period of 10 years, renewable. To qualify, applicants must transfer at least USD 1,500 monthly or its equivalent to their local bank account in Mauritius.
PREMIUM VISA
Aimed at professionals and tourists who wish to spend up to one year in Mauritius. The Premium Visa allows eligible individuals to work remotely from the island. Applicants must provide evidence of their long-term stay plans, including proof of sufficient income generated from outside Mauritius (at least USD 1,500 monthly) to cover their living expenses.
FAMILY OCCUPATION PERMIT
The Family Occupation Permit allows foreign individuals to reside in Mauritius for a period of 10 years along with their spouse, children, and parents. To qualify, an applicant must make a minimum contribution of USD 250,000 to the COVID-19 Projects Development Fund. This permit offers a flexible pathway for families seeking to relocate to Mauritius, with the opportunity to live, work, and invest in the country for an extended period of 10 years.
PERMANENT RESIDENCE PERMIT
Non-citizens holding a Residence Permit (OP) or a Premium Visa for at least three consecutive years are eligible to apply for a Permanent Residence Permit valid for 20 years.
